Story time! I’m Dr. Erin Lightfoot, the founder of Lightfoot Self and Soul. As a recovering fearful avoidant (aka disorganized attachment style), my journey into the realms of mindfulness and emotional wellness was sparked by my own struggles with:
anxiety, depression, crippling perfectionism, fear of criticism, pent up anger, unexplainable digestive issues, migraines, a vicious inner critic, gossiping as a form of emotional connection (which always made me feel worse), and a highly sensitive and a highly sensitive nervous system leaving me in a constant state of “fight or flight”. Embarking on an (often messy) spiritual healing path fueled my deep desire to strengthen the connection within myself, which substantially improved the quality of every relationship in my life, and brought me closer to spirit.
Today, I’m passionate about guiding others through their transformative healing journeys, helping them harness the power of their inner badass through integrated attachment theory, mindful breathing, and intuitive self-awareness. Join me as we explore the pathways to a more centered, vibrant, and fulfilling life. It’s an honor and a privilege to guide you along your journey!
My Journey To
Spiritual Awakening
My path to inner peace began in the depths of daily anxiety, where every moment felt like a battle against my own thoughts. Discovering mindfulness was the first step in a long but transformative journey away from chaos and toward serenity. As I embraced stillness, I not only found relief from anxiety but also uncovered a deeper connection to my intuition—a guiding force that had been buried beneath years of self-doubt.
This healing journey didn’t just stabilize my emotions; it reshaped my entire way of being. Through mindfulness, breathwork, attachment style and subconscious reprogramming, I evolved from feeling anxious, depressed, and disconnected to becoming highly intuitive, self-assured, and emotionally secure. As my inner world transformed, so did my relationships—I went from attracting unavailable, unfulfilling connections to effortlessly drawing in deep, supportive, and emotionally available relationships.
Now, peace is not just a fleeting feeling but a constant presence, guiding me through life with clarity and confidence. My journey has shown me that true healing isn’t just about understanding your emotions – it’s about learning to work with them, reclaiming your intuition, aligning with your highest self and creating the kind of relationships that nourish and sustain you. This realization has fueled my passion for helping others walk this path, sharing the tools that have profoundly changed my own life.
My Professional
Qualifications
I am extensively trained and certified, holding a PhD in Mindfulness for Kindergarteners in public education from the California Institute of Integral Studies, with a focus on Self-Regulation, Emotional Intelligence, Prosocial Behavior, and Relational Leadership. My academic research on the emotional capacity of a 5-year-old has given me deep insight into the inner child within every adult, allowing me to help you heal and recondition your attachment style from the inside out at any age!
My credentials also include certifications as an Integrated Attachment Theory Relationship Coach from The Personal Development School, Health and Nutrition Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN), Mindful Breathing Coach from YOGABODY, and a 200 Hour Yoga Instructor from Breathe For Change. These diverse qualifications equip me with a comprehensive toolkit to take a spiritual and holistic approach toward helping you recondition your attachment style so you can become securely attached and soul-aligned.
My PersonalLife
Outside of my professional and academic world, I lead a full life with my awesome partner, our three children, and our sweet kitty, Phoebe! We’re a giant pack of nerds who enjoy Saturday night movies (which includes fighting over who gets to pick the movie, lol), dressing up for Halloween, LA Sports teams (Go Lakers, Dodgers, and Kings – woo hoo!), and attending any and all carnival, festival, or arcade in sight! I post more ‘behind the scenes’ family shenanigans in my Instagram stories
Fun fact: my son is Autistic, ADHD, and OCD – so to all of you special needs parents out there – I see you. I see you and I see your babies, too…because life is not easy for them either. Though I can declare without hesitation that learning how to regulate your nervous system makes life WAAAAAY smoother for both you and your child. You’re better able to manage the stress and feel at home in your body, even amidst the seemingly never-ending chaos.
